In the Corbett landscape, the Foundation has been successfully implementing the Interim Relief Scheme since 1995. The scheme, supported by WWF-India, provides compensation to the villagers whose livestock is killed or injured by tigers or leopards outside the Corbett Tiger Reserve. This project has had a very positive impact on the conservation of these big cats in Corbett. Through its Rural Medical Outreach Programme, the Foundation’s mobile medical units have been offering primary healthcare facilities in over 100 villages in Corbett. The Foundation has been the pioneer in the preservation of endangered Mahseer fish in the River Kosi since past several years with its Mahseer Mitra initiative and implementation of the Solar-powered fencing around Ringora village to mitigate man-animal conflict. In 2009, the Centre on Global Warming was established by the Foundation to spread awareness among the locals and tourists about the ill-effects of the man-influenced climate change. The Foundation’s team of experts strives to create and spread awareness about the local and global environmental issues among the local stakeholders at several workshops, lectures, interactive sessions and other events that it organises from time to time.
