The Corbett Foundation in collaboration with the Kids for Tigers, Sanctuary Asia organized a Tiger Fest on the World Earth Day (April 22, 2010). This day was also 16th anniversary of The Corbett Foundation.  More than 200 students and teachers participated in the series of events held on the occasion.

The programme started with a rally in Ramnagar that was organised to spread awareness among the local public, and tourists about the importance of tiger and  various issues related to the conservation of biodiversity. The rally started from Lakhanpur Government Junior High School, passed through various main streets of the city and finally concluded at the Forest Compound, where a series of competitions were organized later.

Face Painting competition was held for the students of classes 6th to 8th and the students of clases 9th to 12th. The participants painted tigers on the face of their partner using eco-friendly colors.

The winners of junior category were:

  1. Asmita Verma and Subham Manral, Great Mission Public School, Ramnagar
  2. Chandra Shekhar and Ajit Goswami, SVM, Choi
  3. Praveen Pandey and Rajat Arya , Dayananad Bal Mandir, Ramnagar

The winners from senior category were:

  1. Nikhil Bisht and Vivek Bisht, Gyan Prakash Public School, Dhamola
  2. Pushpendra Karki and Govind Singh Bisht, G.I.C, Dhela
  3. Priya Phartyal and Yash Verma, Great Mission Public School, Ramnagar

Essay competition on the Role of people in conservation of forests and wildlife saw 25 students of 6th to 8th standard participate enthusiastically. The winners were:

  1. Samir Riyaz, Government Inter College, Ramnagar
  2. Manish Papney, Dayananad Bal Mandir, Ramnagar
  3. Pawan Koranga, Gyan Prakash Public School ,Dhamola

Poster competition on Renewable Energy Sources was a great success with 31 students of 9th to 12th standard creating artistic and thought-provoking posters on the topic. The winners of the competition were:

  1. Richa Sharma, Great Mission Public School, Ramnagar
  2. Gaurav Shah,  SVM, Choi
  3. Diksha Rawat, D .D. C. M. Public School, Dhikuli

The event concluded with the Environmental Skit and Fancy Dress competitions on any environment-friendly theme. The winning teams of the Fancy Dress Competition were:

  1. Pushpak  Bal Vidhya Mandir, Ramnagar
  2. G.I.C., Dhela
  3. Dayananad Bal Mandir, Ramnagar

The winning teams for the environmental skit competition were:

  1. Great Mission Public School, Ramnagar
  2. Great Mission Public School, Ramnagar
  3. Pushpak  Bal Vidhya Mandir, Ramnagar
  4. Consolation Prize – B.D.J.M Public School, Dhikuli
Schools also displayed stalls on Biodiversity and Wildlife conservation during the Tiger Fest in which Great Mission Public School , Ramnagar was awarded the best school .Dayanand Bal Vidhya Mandir, Ramnagar, B.D.J.M Public School, Dhikuli, Government Inter College, Ramnagar and Welfare Public School, Ramnagar got the consolation prizes for the stalls.
