The Corbett Foundation commemorated the World Wetlands Day on February 02, 2010 with the students and teachers of four schools. The programme was organized at Tumaria Dam, an important wetland, situated near Ramnagar.
The programme commenced with bird watching activity for the teachers and students. Subsequently a group discussion was conducted based on the quiz questions given by TCF team. The whole group of students and teachers were divided into four teams and in the end each team was asked to give their views. This was followed by a presentation on hydrological cycle, wetlands and their importance, reasons for celebrating World Wetlands Day and the Ramsar Convention. This was followed by a discussion on the impacts of climate change on the wetlands and biodiversity.
World Environment Day
TCF staff and local volunteers of Dhikuli organised a clean-up along a 2-km stretch of the road that passes through Corbett Tiger Reserve near village Dhikuli. TCF collected the trash (mostly non-biodegradable) from the forest along the road and dispossed it off properly in Ramnagar city.

Wildlife Week Celebration
The Corbett Foundation organized various activities to celebrate the National Wildlife Week (October 01 to 07) in collaboration with the Forest Department, various schools, other local agencies and partner NGOs.
In association with the Forest Department and WWF-India, a marathon was organised to increase awareness for conservation of wild animals. The marathon, organized from Aamdanda Gate to Ringora, was inaugurated by Mr. Deewan Singh Bisht the local MLA. Local people, youths, students, Forest Department officials, staff of The Corbett Foundation and other local NGOs participated in the marathon.
In the category of 25-40 years of age, Sharad Kumar from The Corbett Foundation won the first prize. The youngest participant (14 years) was honoured the special prize for his active participation.
TCF also organized a poster competition on the theme of “Climate Change” in which 54 students of classes 9th to 12th participated from various schools of Ramnagar district. The first prize went to two students Priyanka Bhandari of D.D.C.M. Public School, Dhikuli and Jaydeep Negi of Little Scholar School, Kashipur. The first runner-up was Pragati Khulbe of M. P. H. Inter College, Ramnagar and second runner-up was Gulnag Ansari of D.D.C.M. Public School, Dhikuli.
TCF organised
presentations on “Flora and Fauna of Corbett Tiger Reserve and its management problem” for the students of class 8th in 28 schools during the month of September 2009.
Based on this presentation, a quiz sheet was prepared to check the understanding of the students. After several levels of short-listeing, finally seven teams were selected to take part in the final round of the Quiz Competition that was held at the Community Hall of Municipal Board, Ramangar. The team of Arvind Khulbe & Neeraj Rawat of Jim Corbett Public School secured first place and were awarded with a fellowship of Rs. 1200 per year for five years each. Rs. 4,000 was donated to the school for developmental activities. The first runners-up was the team of Manmohan Singh Mehra and Akshay Bangari from Pt. Gauri Datt Dani Sarasvati Vidhya Mandir, Chhoi. The team was awarded Rs. 500 each and Rs. 1500 was donated to the school. The second runners-up was the team of Sneha Datta and Subham Pandey of Shri. D. D. Chhimwal Memorial Public School, Dhikuli and was awarded with Rs. 250 each and Rs. 1000 was donated to the school for developmental activities.
Mr. R. K. Mishra (IFS), Field Director of CTR and Mr. Deewan Singh Bisht, MLA gave away the prizes to the winners.
In addition to this, The Corbett Foundation organized movie shows for the villagers and Gujjar settlements in and around the buffer zone of CTR in collaboration with the Forest Department. The movies like Wild Adventures of Bedi Brothers, Vanishing Vultures of BNHS and Save Tiger were played during the show. The communities thoroughly enjoyed these movies.
